Translation

Sudāmā says to the door keepers: Look at the state of my poverty, I have come with great faith to the door of Lord Krishna. He is my childhood friend. Thinking this, I came with a hope. 1) O door keepers, please go and tell Srī Krishna that poor Sudāmā has come at His door. After wandering a lot, Sudāmā has come closer to Your palace. 2) He has no turban on his head or cloth to cover. Please tell Krishna that his Name is Sudāmā. Please go once and tell all loving Srī Krishna that His unfortunate friend has come to meet Him. 3) Hearing this, Srī Krishna came running and embraced Sudāmā. Srī Krishna’s wife Rukminī was very surprised to see how strange a friend of Srī Krishna had come. 4) Srī Krishna made Sudāmā sit along with Him. He washed the Feet of Sudāmā with His tears. Both Srī Krishna and Sudāmā cried. The emotion of love welled up in the friendship. 5) Then Sudāmā tried to hide his little bag of rice as he was not able to express his state of helplessness and poverty. Srī Krishna snached the little bag from him and started to eat. Srī Krishna was enjoying it as if He had received the offering of foods of 56 kinds. 6) Sudāmā stayed in Dwarka for one day. When it was the time to leave, Srī Krishna said - “my dear friend Sudāmā do not worry. Your good days have come closer to You” .
