Meaning

Translation

1) “Go and meet Lord Krishna (Srī Hari / Thakurji) as He (Gopāl) is your dear childhood friend”, to the wise Sudāmā, says his wife with sweet nectar words. 2) He is your best friend and you studied together. He has all needed food, money and the good fortune of His beloved Lakshmī. But why are you still a pauper? 3) The helpless Sudāmā reached the gates of the palace of Srī Krishna. Upon hearing that His friend Sudāmā had come, the merciful Lord came running. 4) Lord Krishna washed Sudāmā’s feet and took the Charanamrit, whilst Rukminī, His wife watched attentively. Lord Srī Hari took the puffed rice and started to eat. He was about to finish everything but Rukminī held His hand. 5) Sudāmā’s broken hut was transformed into a palace studded with diamonds and rubies. The supreme Lord Who is free of sorrow, today cries continuously like the cascade of a waterfall.
