Sing the glories of Srī Rāmānujācharya, the emperor of all the sages if you are scared of the worldly existence. 1) Srī Rāmānujācharya is the victorious flag that proudly pro- claims the greatness of Lord Srī Rangesha. He is the medicine that protects those who take His refuge. He is the only bridge to cross the ocean of worldly existence. With His Grace one develops devotional love for the Lord of Goddess Lakshmī. 2) In the beginning as Adishesha, He was the supporting force of the universe. Following that He took the form of Srī Lakshman, the son of Sumitra. Then in another form, He carried the plough (as Balaram). Thereafter, He took the form of our Lord and Guru Srī Rāmānujācharya. 3) A different one (the soul) suffers through material experiences. Yet another one (the Lord) shines with purity without going through such experiences. This truth was explained by Srī Rāmānujācharya. Tell me, who can be greater than Srī Rāmānujācharya? 4) When the eyes are lost, what can one see? When the mind is intoxicated, of what use can intelligence be? When the merits are finished, what is the joy of the abode of the demigods (heavens)? But when the material lust is driven away, then what can cause you sorrows? Srī Rāmānujācharya destroys the blemishes of material lust of His devotees. 5) At night people want to sleep with their spouses. During the day, they condemn others to establish their greatness. In between these actions of folly, their lives are expended without any real purpose. Being human with higher intelligence, they live the life of an animal. 6) Some people desire to engage in sport. Some others desire to be fondled by maidens. Some others are fickle minded and keep running from one distraction to another in life. There seems to be none who worships the Lord of sages, Srī Rāmānujācharya. 7) Even when the body becomes weak due to old age, their desire to enjoy material pleasures strengthens. Their mouths speak the words of detachment and chant the vedas but the minds think marrying once again to be great. 8) Night and day, you beg others. Your spouse comes to you only for arguing. In between, you are busy serving the relatives (dependants). Tell me, when are you going to wor- ship the Lord?
