Guru Jaisā Nāhi Ko Deva (Version 1)

There is no deity equal to my Guru. Whoever has good destiny inscribed upon their forehead has the opportunity to serve the Guru selflessly. My Satguru is not dependent on anyone. My Satguru is adorned with truth. My Satguru is the giver of all. My Satguru is the Creator, the Lord, who defines the destiny of all. My Satguru is the sustainer and cherisher of all. My Satguru slays (the ego and pride) and blesses one with a new life. The glorious greatness of my Satguru has manifested everywhere. My Satguru is the power of the powerless. My Satguru is my home and court. I forever sacrifice myself unto my Satguru, who has shown me the path of righteousness. One who serves the Guru is not afflicted with fear. One who serves the Guru does not suffer in pain. Guru Arjan (5th Nanak), has scrutinised the Smritis and Vedas. There is no difference between the Supreme Lord, the Vedas and the Satguru.
