Meaning
Translation
Tell me brother, how can one renounce Maya? You gave up family ties and tied the ascetic’s robe. Then, even when giving up even that robe, you still had to cover yourself with another cloth. Even if one gives up lust, anger does not leave. If anger is renounced, greed arises. Even when greed is abandoned, the ego does not go. Craving for honor and prestige still appears charming. [1] Only when the mind becomes truly detached, and free from illusion, can one unite their awareness with the eternal divine word. Sant Kabir says, “O seekers, this secret is realised only by the rarest few.” [2]
