The Lord (Ram) is the support of my life and soul. O beloved merciful Lord, the sustainer of the whole world, most beautiful is Your glory! O Lord present in hearts of all, You are beyond reach of anyone, You are infinite! O merciful sustainer of the world, O beloved Lord of the universe, O beloved Lord, please meet Your humble ones. [1] Without the Guru, there is utter darkness. Without the Guru, one does not have the true understanding. Without the Guru, there is no attention on the Supreme Lord and no perfection in spiritual practices. Without the Guru, one does not attain liberation. [2] My eyes long for the blessed vision and touch of the Divine. I cannot find sleep, and the night passes restlessly. [3] The Lord's wisdom is like a sacred collyrium for my eyes (bringing spiritual clarity), and His Name is my nourishment. Through this, all my adornments are complete. Guru Arjan (the 5th Guru Nanak) says, ‘I pray and plead to the Guru, please unite me with my beloved Lord.’ [4] One who shows the righteous path to the lost one, such a Guru is obtained by great fortune.
