Translation
You have a long journey ahead. O traveler, why do you sleep? Awaken, awaken, O foolish man, do not sleep too much! Trapped in desire, anger, pride and greed - why waste your precious life? [1] Upon your head lies the bundle of worldly attachment, and your messengers of fate/death stand beside you. When that bundle is snatched away from you midway, where will you hold your face and weep? [2] The road ahead is long and difficult, now you must walk alone. No one will walk alongside you. The path is full of thorns. [3] The river is deep, your boat is old, how will you ever reach the far shore? Sant Kabir says, “Listen, O wise seeker, pay off your interest before you lose your principal (your life’s essence).” [4]
